A Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) facility for a global technology client in Bonifacio Global City. The design brief asked for the site to set a new benchmark for BPO facilities in Manila, in a boom economy where employers often have to compete for talent and employee retention is typically low. The team used evidence-based research (utilisation studies and user survey) to verify the design brief against standard guidelines.
The design approach was to provide a user-centric experience for the employees, who are mostly in the 20-35 age bracket. The central design theme is ‘Designing for the Filipino Millennial’-- for the environment to reflect the users’ aspirations, ideals,
principles and interests. This translated into 2 design stories we told through the building stack-- ‘Jungle Gym’- inspired by Sheryl Sandberg’s analogy of career paths in the digital age, and ‘Travelogue’ - inspired by the Millennial trope of ‘collecting experiences not possessions’.
A important objective for the project is to strengthen the client’s position as the ‘BPO Employer of Choice’ in the Philippines.
