As part of a phased work floor expansion plan, our client also commissioned Graphite Studio to revamp and enlarge the existing reception pantry. The brief was to allow large visitor crowds to move through the space on their way to the auditorium, and to provide plenty of alcoves and stations to offer refreshments and hospitality for employees and guests.

The pantry is thus conceived as a street that offers enjoyable pockets of social spaces. A cement tile floor paves the whole space, refreshments are presented in freestanding and generous hospitality stations, and gathering alcoves are spread across the thoroughfare.

Lightness is expressed throughout as a design principle. Walkways and circulation routes are kept expansive with minimal visual blocks from one end to the other. Refreshment stations are planned out as free islands, and all machines concealed and integrated within the joinery. The ceiling is a micro perforated timber veneer finish that provides a high sound absorption. The soft biophilia contrasts against the architectural forms. The overall effect is a premium, open and welcoming avenue of hospitality.
